What does Bonner leadership training consist of?

Every Friday Bonners gather for an hour and a half long in diverse leadership training. These training are student-led and consist in a rotational order of issue area, all-call, and class-based meetings. All-calls are led by issue area leaders or the Bonner program in general, and there are class-based leaders for each undergraduate year. ​

What is the Certificate of Community Engagement?

The Certificate of Community Engagement is a requirement to graduate with the Bonner Program. The certificate requires 4 courses in community engagement, 100 hours of community service, and a capstone essay.

What if I am not able to complete the full 140 hour semester requirement?

If you work between 100-140 hours you are able to use a two-week extension to complete the remaining hours for the semester.

How many extensions do we have?

Each member has a total of two extensions in their Bonner career. They may be used for a School Year Service or a Summer of Service.

Since we receive federal work study from our volunteer hours am I able to work an extra job on campus?

Yes, but it cannot exceed 20 hours a week.

If I decide to study abroad in the Fall or Spring how will I complete my volunteer hours?

Students have the choice to either work their hours abroad with an approved site. Or, if they can complete hours before or after their study abroad semester with the approval of the Bonner Program Coordinator.

How many Bonner event absences are we allowed each year?

Members are allowed 4 absences each academic year, and must email the Bonner coordinator 72 hours in advance to use an absence.

When should Community Learning Agreements (CLAs) be proposed?

Your CLA should be proposed within the first two weeks of the semester.

Bonner Common Commitments

The seven Common Commitments represent the collective beliefs about the types of values and personal commitments that those connected through the Program encounter and explore.  Each Bonner Program weaves the exploration of the Common Commitments into their work in various ways, including reflection activities, trainings, film screenings and discussions, and coursework.
