WHO WE ARE

Since 2005, the Bonner Program has been a catalyst for student-led community transformation and social justice at Stetson University. Bonner students work with non-profit partners, each intent on collectively and collaboratively solving challenges in our local and global community. The Bonner Program is designed to transform not only the students who are directly supported by the program but also the campus and community in which they serve and learn. All Bonner students commit to eight or more hours of community service per week through an internship with a local non-profit community partner and to two hours of personal, professional and/or leadership training per week with other students in the program.

WHAT WE DO

The Bonner Program is for students who want to change the world.

Bonner students partner with local non-profits that serve the DeLand and Volusia County communities. Bonner sites improve food access, provide free health services, offer financial literacy training, and more! Students in the program complete 8 hours of community service every week as well as 1.5 hours of training with other members of the program. Bonner students also participate in monthly socials, semesterly retreats, and class-based cornerstone events.

In the past, Bonner students have had a significant impact on the community through capacity-building projects such as hosting a book drive for Spanish language books, developing an after-school music program, and facilitating a program that allows people to use food stamps at the local farmers market.
